Fastening Loop at Folding Roof, Replace

Model 43-B

Remove

Unscrew rear fastening screw of side panel trim.

Detach rubber bands of inner trim.

Pull off upper side panel trim from side panel at rear.

Unscrew bracing wire 1 of outer covering.

Do not twist bracing wire.

Illus. shows procedure on left side - analogous operations apply to right side.

Loosen outer covering from rear panel.

Carefully unstitch seam at loop from outside inwards.

X = Unstitch seam max. 2 mm/0.08 in. beyond edge of loop.

Important: Do not damage outer covering.

Install

Use commercially available awl to make perforations.

Sew in new loop using commercially available saddle needle.

Use thimble.

Sew seam running approx. 10 mm/0.39 in. left and right from loop.

1     Loop

2     Bracing wire

3     Outer covering

4     Saddle needle

Important: Incorrect positioning of awl can lead to holes in outer covering and thus to water leakage.

Uniformly press in bracing wire from the middle towards both sides by hand.

Press again using a wooden wedge.

Ensure that outer covering does not wrinkle.

Avoid damage to paint.

Tightly screw on bracing wire right and left.

Do not twist bracing wire.

Attach rubber bands of inner trim.

Screw on side panel inner trim right and left.
