| Switch is permanently lit for easy identification at night |
| q | Pull switch ⇒ to apply „handbrake “. |
| q | Press switch ⇒ to release brake; vehicle must then be held with footbrake |

| q | Lights up when parking brake is applied |
| q | Indicator lamp in instrument cluster as additional display |
| Indicator bar lights up red when vehicle is retarded by EPB at speeds above 7 km/h. The system also sounds an audible warning tone. |
| 3 - | EPB system fault warning lamp (yellow) |
| q | In case of malfunction of the parking brake the yellow symbol in the instrument cluster display lights up additionally and the warning: Parking brake! is displayed. |
| 4 - | Indicator lamp for electromechanical parking brake |
| Lamp lights up red: |
| q | To indicate that required clamping force has been built up |
| q | The lamp lights up with parking brake applied and ignition switched on. |
| q | The lamp stays on for approx. 20 seconds after the ignition is switched off. |
| q | If the parking brake is applied with ignition switched off, the lamp lights up for approx. 20 seconds. |
| q | The lamp should go out when the parking brake is released. |
| Lamp flashes red: |
| If the lamp flashes red continuously after the parking brake has been applied, this can have one of the following causes: |
| t | The braking force developed by the parking brake is not sufficient to prevent the vehicle from rolling |
| t | The temperature of the brakes is too high |
| If the lamp flashes red, the vehicle must be held by another means |
| Lamp lights up green: |
| q | Lamp indicates that Audi hold assist (AHA) is active |
| Yellow warning lamp lights up additionally: |
| q | In case of malfunction of the parking brake the yellow symbol in the instrument cluster display lights up additionally and the warning: Parking brake! is displayed. |
