Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1410-
Removing
–  Fold out side trim in luggage compartment (rear right) → Rep. gr.70.
A control unit for trailer operation is fitted on some models. The control unit for trailer operation and its mounting bracket must first be removed before removing the control unit for electromechanical parking brake.
–  Unscrew nuts.

–  Slide retainer catch of electrical connection -2- forwards.
–  Take out control unit for EPB -1- with electrical connection.
–  Unplug electrical connection from control unit.
–  Remove control unit from vehicle.
Installing
  A46-10097
–  Plug in electrical connection -2- to control unit.
–  Slide retainer catch on connector to the rear so it engages.
–  Install control unit.
–  Fit nuts, 9 Nm.
Install control unit for trailer operation and bracket, if fitted. Bracket: 3 Nm.
–  If the control unit for electromechanical parking brake has been renewed, select the function „Replacing“ for the relevant control unit in the „Guided Fault Finding“.
Use vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- or -5052-.
