Removing and installing vacuum pump (V6 FSI) > < Removing and installing vacuum pump (2.0 ltr. TDI diesel engine)

Before removing the vacuum pump, the high-pressure fuel pump must be removed → Rep. gr.24.
The plenum chamber partition panel does not have to be removed.
Removing
   
The vacuum pump is located in the rear of the engine compartment -arrow-, as seen in the direction of travel.
  WARNING
Fuel line is under pressure, do not disconnect.

–  Carefully pull engine cover panels away from retaining pins, one after the other.
The vacuum pump is located in the rear of the engine compartment on the right side, as seen in the direction of travel.
–  Unscrew bracket for fuel lines at high-pressure fuel pump.
–  Unplug electrical connector -1- for high-pressure fuel pump.

–  Unclip electrical wire from bracket -arrow-.
–  Remove high-pressure fuel pump -2- → Rep. gr.24.
–  Slacken ignition coil rail at bracket.

–  Carefully unplug connectors -arrows- for ignition coils.
–  Carefully press ignition coil rail to one side.
–  Unscrew lines at high-pressure pump and vacuum pump and press to one side.
–  Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum pump at hose clip.
  Caution
Take care not to damage the vacuum hose. The vacuum hose must be renewed if it is damaged.

–  Remove all bolts -arrows- from sealing flange of vacuum pump.
  Note
Do not disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum line at plenum chamber partition panel -2-.
–  Pull vacuum pump out of its mounting.
Installing
  Note
Renew seal.
Ensure that seal is seated correctly.
–  Turn drive lugs of vacuum pump so they engage in slots in camshaft when vacuum pump is installed.
–  Ensure that seal is seated correctly.

–  Fit all bolts -arrows- on sealing flange of vacuum pump and tighten. → Item
–  Slide new hose clip onto vacuum hose.
–  Slide vacuum hose onto connection on vacuum pump.
–  Use suitable pliers to tighten hose clip on connection of vacuum pump.
  Caution
Take care not to damage the vacuum hose. The vacuum hose must be renewed if it is damaged.
–  Tighten lines to high-pressure pump and vacuum pump.

–  Plug in connectors -arrows- for ignition coils.
–  Secure ignition coil rail.
–  Install high-pressure fuel pump → Rep. gr.24.
–  Secure brackets for fuel lines at high-pressure fuel pump.
–  Install engine cover panel.
