Connect up the diagnostic connector and switch on the ignition.

Call up "Encoding/Programming" from the DIS start screen.
Please note:
Explanatory notes on the functions or the operating sequence can be called up by pressing
the "Tips" button (only if this button is activated).
"Car Memory" operating sequence

Select "Car Memory" and continue with "arrow right".

Start identification with "arrow right".
The central encoding key (ZCS) is evaluated for vehicle identification. Amongst other
things, it contains all relevant information concerning the vehicle equipment and the
national variant. After successful identification, a summary of the functions whose settings
can be programmed appears on the screen.
Please note:
The scopes determined depend on the national variant and the vehicle's equipment.
Functions which are unavailable for the vehicle due to the national variant are not listed and
cannot be set.
For easier understanding, the further procedure is elucidated using an example. The
function "follow-me-home lights" is to be activated at the customer's request:

Select menu item "Lighting" and subsequently "Exterior lighting", confirming each with
"arrow right".
A list of the programmable functions appears.

Select "follow-me-home lights" and confirm with "arrow right".
The selected function and the possible settings are shown on the screen.
The "=" symbol marks the current setting.
(Explanatory notes on this and other symbols can be found in the section "New terms" .)

Select "active" and confirm with "arrow right".
The message "selection accepted" appears on the screen. The program switches
automatically to the selection screen. If no other functions are selected, the setting can be
made directly from this template.
Please note:
The selected function is entered in a "wish list". Other functions can be selected as
described and entered in sequence in the "wish list".

Once the wish list is complete, the selected functions are programmed in a single
operation by selecting "Program vehicle" and confirming with the "arrow right" button.
Please note:
The "wish list" should be printed out for documentation purposes.

Program the selected settings by pressing "arrow right".
Please note:
As described on the screen, switch the ignition off for about 10 seconds and back on
again. This sequence is necessary to "wake up" a control unit which is in the so-called
"sleep mode". If the ignition is not switched off and then back on again, the control unit will
remain in "sleep mode". The "wish list" cannot be completely carried out.

Then start the vehicle programming with "Yes".
The progress of the programming procedure is indicated by a moving bar on the screen.
The vehicle's battery voltage is also displayed. Insufficient voltage can cause malfunctions.

The process is completed with a "final message".
