Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
Test D: Low Speed OK, No High Speed Left Fan
1. Disconnect Coolant Fan Relay 3. With the ignition Switch in RUN measure the voltage to ground at terminals 1 and 2 of the harness connector.
^ If battery voltage is measured at both terminals, go to step 2.
^ If battery voltage is not measured at one or both terminals, check circuits 2 or 350 for an open (see schematic).
2. Enter diagnostics and select PCM override ES08. Set diagnostic display to 01. Connect a test lamp between terminals 2 and 5 at the Coolant Fan
Relay 3 harness connector.
^ If test lamp lights, go to step 3.
^ If test lamp does not light, check circuit 536 for an open.
3. Connect a fused jumper between terminals 1 and 4 at the Coolant Fan Relay 3 harness connector.
^ If the Left Fan runs at high speed, check terminal contact at Coolant Fan Relay 3. If OK, replace Coolant Fan Relay 3.
^ If the Left Fan does not run, check circuit 533 for an open.
