  1. Rotate the crankshaft in its normal direction of rotation until the references on the crankshaft pulley and the injection pump drive pulley coincide with the fixed references on the engine. Cylinder no. 1 is at T.D.c. and the camshaft is timed for the explosion stroke in cylinder no. 1.

NOTE The opening for fixing the camshaft drive pulley has a slot so that in this condition the reference does not coincide exactly with the fixed reference on the cover.

  1. Loosen the belt tensioner nut, then remove the timing drive belt.
