If the cup engagement lugs break when the cup is detached from the soundproofing piece, (see page 6), the cup must be renewed together with the soundproofing piece to ensure that the two parts match properly.

Withdrawing variable ratio rack-and-pinion steering gear from car

Withdraw the steering gear from the wheelhouse, gearbox side.

NOTE Check the front wheel toe-in whenever the steering gear is removed and refitted.
