1080E EVAPORATION SYSTEM

OPERATION

The fumes from the tank are sent to the canister (2), where they are absorbed and stored in carbon filters, through a multi-function valve (1).

Schematic diagrams of the evaporation system layout for 899 cc and 1108 cc engine versions showing components 1, 2, and 3 connected by hoses.

They reach the intake manifold through solenoid valve (3) controlled by the injection-ignition ECU.

MULTI-FUNCTION VALVE

The purposes of the multi-function valve are:

  • - to close the valve when the tank is full
  • - to open the valve to send fumes to the canister
  • - to ventilate the tank if a vacuum is created
  • - to impede spilling fuel if the vehicle rolls over.

Closed valve with full tank
Float (2) blocks hole (9) blocking the flow of fuel to the canister thus protecting it from damage.

Cross-sectional diagram of the multi-function valve showing internal components numbered 1 through 9.
