DESCRIPTION

This vehicle’s electric circuit presents several innovations as regards wiring, electric devices and systems.

The main innovations are:

Electric circuits

The electric system was designed to increase vehicle safety preventing fire and other consequences of electric faults. The possibility of faulty connections has been reduced by the employment of state-of-the-art connectors.

The main solutions are:

  • Power lines protected by maxi fuses to cut off the electric system downstream with respect to the battery in the event of a short circuit.
  • The only cables which are not protected by a maxi fuse (starter motor and alternator) are shielded and located in protected areas.
  • The position of the entire system is optimised to reduce damage in the event of failures and crashes.
  • The cables in the engine compartment are specially made to resist to high temperatures. Moreover, they are protected by sheaths or pipes.
  • The connections are fitted with an extraction prevention device (secondary lock).

The instrument indicators and warning lights are grouped together in the tachometer unit located behind the steering wheel. The rev counter is, on the other hand, located at the centre of the dashboard.

Sound system

This vehicle has provisions for the installation of a sound system.

The system provision includes:

  • radio compartment
  • radio connection wires
  • radio connection wires to speakers
  • aerial coaxial cable.

Airbag system

This vehicle can be equipped with a optional airbag system. The are two versions:

  • Driver airbag and mechanically activated pretensioners.
  • Electronically activated driver and passenger airbag (passenger airbag can be deactivated) and mechanically activated pretensioners.

Theft alarm

This vehicle is equiped with a FIAT CODE to ensure vehicle safety from theft.

An optional electronic alarm system with volumetric protection and alarm signal light can be fitted.

For further information on the systems in Group 55, see the specific subgroup/unit descriptions.
