Ford Bronco workshop manuals
Ford Bronco at a glance: 11 manuals, covering 1982 to 1987 models, with engines from 2.8 to 5.8 litres.
About the Bronco
The Bronco was Ford's first SUV. It went on sale for 1966 as a compact off-roader built to take on the Jeep CJ-5 and International Scout. For 1978 it grew into a short-wheelbase version of the F-Series pickup, and the full-size Bronco stayed in production until 1996. The name returned in 2021.
What these manuals cover
- 1982–1986 Bronco (third generation, built on the F-150 chassis): the 4.9-litre straight-six and the 5.0 and 5.8-litre V8s. The 5.0 V8 switched from a carburettor to fuel injection in 1985.
- 1987 Bronco (fourth generation): a new front end and dashboard, rear-wheel ABS as standard, and fuel injection on the straight-six.
- Bronco II (1984–1990): a smaller, separate model based on the Ranger pickup, with the 2.8 or 2.9-litre Cologne V6. Four-wheel drive was standard until 1986, when a two-wheel-drive version was added.
Tip: under the skin a full-size Bronco is a short F-150, so the F-150 4WD manuals with the same engine and year are a useful second reference. For the Bronco II, try the Ranger manuals.
