Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  1. Remove the brake booster. For additional information, refer to Section  206-07 Power Brake Actuation.

  1. Remove the air cleaner support bracket.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The bracket nuts are located under the noise vehicle harshness (NVH) padding. The NVH padding will have to be locally removed to gain restricted access to the nuts.
    Detach the left - hand brake booster support brackets.

  1. Loosen the left - hand booster support bracket bolt.
    • Relocate the bracket.

  1. Remove the tube return spring.

  1. Remove the left - hand booster support bracket.

  1. Remove the master cylinder fluid feed tubes.

  1. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit brake tubes.

  1. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.
    1. Release the retainer.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  1. Remove the hydraulic control unit support bracket rear bolts.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Observe the earth wire behind the lower bolt.
    Remove the hydraulic control unit support brackets side bolts.
    • Pull the bracket and hydraulic control unit forwards.

  1. Loosen the nuts.

  1. Lift the hydraulic control unit off the bracket and maneuver off the vehicle.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:After installation, bleed the brake system. For additional information, refer to Section  206-00 Brake System - General Information.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Ensure the hydraulic control unit is correctly fitted to the locating peg.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
