Aligner, Gearshift Lever

1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

2. Release the locking tabs from the gearshift cable and the selector cable.
   • Press the orange colored insert into the adjuster body.

3. Release the locking tabs from the shift cable and the selector cable.

4. Lower the vehicle.

5. Remove the air cleaner.

6. Detach the gearshift lever boot and trim panel from the floor console.

7. 

   NOTE:Make sure that the gearshift lever is in the neutral position.
   Using the special tool, lock the gearshift lever.
   1. Pull the reverse gear release.
   2. Install the special tool.

8. Rotate the special tool approximately 45 degrees clockwise to lock the gearshift mechanism.

9. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

10. Shift the transaxle into the neutral position.

11. 

    NOTE:Make sure that the orange colored insert returns to the locked position.
    Adjust the shift cable.
    • Press down the clip on the adjuster button.

12. 

    NOTE:Make sure that the orange colored insert returns to the locked position.
    Adjust the selector cable.
    • Press down the clip on the adjuster button.

13. 

    NOTE:Make sure that the orange colored insert returns to the locked position.
    Adjust the shift cable.

14. 

    NOTE:Make sure that the orange colored insert returns to the locked position.
    Adjust the selector cable.

15. Lower the vehicle.

16. Install the air cleaner.

17. Rotate the special tool approximately 45 degrees counterclockwise to unlock the gearshift mechanism.

18. Remove the special tool.
    1. Pull the reverse gear release.
    2. Remove the special tool.

19. Attach the gearshift lever boot and trim panel to the floor console.
