Removal and Installation
Special Tool(s)
Expander, Teflon seal

Removal
Disconnect the fluid cooler hose.
Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
Detach the fluid reservoir.
Remove the upper belt guard.
Remove the right-hand headlamp assembly (refer to Operation Number 32 115 0).
Remove the low-pressure hose.
Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
Remove the power steering drive belt.
Slacken the drive belt tensioner pulley centre bolt.
Slacken the adjusting bolt.
Remove the drive belt.
Remove the power steering pump pulley.
Hold the centre of the pump shaft with an Allen key if necessary.
Detach the high-pressure pipe support bracket.
Remove the auxiliary drive belt tensioner bracket.
Disconnect the high-pressure pipe union.
Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
Remove the power steering pump.
Installation
NOTE:
If the power steering pump is being renewed the unions that are supplied fitted to the pump should be removed and retained for future use.
Renew the union sealing ring.
Push the sealing ring onto the tool.
Locate the tool on the union and push on the sealing ring.
NOTE:
Install the pump front retaining bolts first.
Refit the components in the reverse order.
Install the power steering pump drive belt.
Slacken the drive belt tensioner pulley centre bolt.
Install the drive belt.
Tension the drive belt with the adjusting bolts. Finger deflection = 1 to 3 mm (used belt) or 1 to 2 mm (new belt).
Tighten the drive belt tensioner pulley centre bolt.
Bleed the power steering system (refer to procedure contained in this section).
