Power Steering - Power Steering Pump—Vehicles Built From: 02/2000 1.8L Diesel, Vehicles With: Air Conditioning Fiesta 1996 (08/1995-02/2002)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground.

  1. Remove the power steering pump cover.
    • Remove the cable tie.

  1. Disconnect the power steering pump electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the low-pressure line.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Remove the cable tie.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Disconnect the high-pressure line.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Disconnect the power steering pump ground cable.

  1. Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket upper bolts.

  1. Remove the power steering pump, and mounting bracket.
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Remove the power steering pump and mounting bracket.

  1. Remove the power steering pump from the mounting bracket.

Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Install a new O-ring seal on the power steering high-pressure line.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system. For additional information, refer to Section  211-00 Steering System - General Information.
