Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Socket, Hydraulic Line Union Nut

211-268A (13-026A)

Expander, Teflon Seal

211-188 (13-015)

Removal

  1. Remove the driver side front wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Section  204-04 Wheels and Tires.

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt lower guard.

  1. Detach the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line from the accessory drive belt lower guard.
    • Detach the clips.

  1. Disconnect the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line from the power steering fluid cooler.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Detach the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line from the front crossmember.

  1. Using the special tool, remove the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line.

Installation

  1. If a new fluid hose is being installed, push the pipe into the new union until it clips into place.

  1. Using the special tool, install a new O-ring seal onto the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line union.
    1. Push the O-ring seal onto the special tool.
    1. Locate the special tool onto the union and install the O-ring seal.

  1. Using the special tool, install the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line.

  1. Connect the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line to the power steering fluid cooler.

  1. Attach the steering gear to power steering fluid return line to the front crossemember.

  1. Attach the steering gear to power steering fluid cooler return line to the accessory drive belt lower guard.

  1. Install the accessory drive belt lower guard.
  1. Install the driver side front wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Section  204-04 Wheels and Tires.
  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system. For additional information, refer to Section  211-00 Steering System - General Information.
