Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures.
    • Make a note of the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the programmed radio stations.
      CAUTION:
      CAUTION:Disconnect the battery negative lead.
    • Withdraw the oil dipstick.

  1. Fit the engine support bar.
    • Lift the engine/transmission assembly slightly using the engine support bar.
  1. Drain the engine oil.

  1. Detach the front exhaust pipe.
    • Remove the gaskets.

  1. Separate the exhaust system.

  1. Remove the starter motor and tie it up at the radiator support.

  1. Remove the bolts from the engine/transmission bracket.

  1. Detach the engine/transmission braces (seven bolts).
    • Remove the clutch housing cover panel.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Specified bolt slackening order.
    Remove the Oil Pan.

  1. Remove the Oil Pan(continued).
    • Separate the oil pan from the cylinder block and remove it.
    • Clean the mating faces.

Installation

  1. Preparatory measures.
    • Apply sealer (WSK-M4G320-A) to the joints between the oil seal carrier and the oil pump housing.

  1. Fit the one-piece oil pan gasket.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:The studs protrude into the engine block. The maximum stud protrusion on the edge nearest the flywheel is 3 mm, all other studs about 10 mm.
    • Fit twelve M6 x 30 studs to help assembly.
    • Lay the one-piece oil pan gasket in place and fit it in the groove of the oil seal carrier and oil pump housing.

  1. Fit the oil pan.
    • Position the oil pan and fit the bolts.
    • Replace the auxiliary studs with oil pan bolts.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Tightening order.
    • Tighten the bolts in the indicated order (two stages).
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Renew the oil seal.
    • Tighten the oil drain plug.

  1. Fit the clutch housing cover panel.
    Fit the engine/transmission braces (seven bolts).
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install the front driveshaft centre bearing before tightening the bolts.

  1. Install the front driveshaft centre bearing.

  1. Install the starter motor.

  1. Fit the front exhaust pipe and the catalytic converter with new gaskets.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Use a new gasket
    Connect the exhaust system.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Insert the oil dipstick.
  1. Fill up with engine oil.
    • Secure the wiring and hoses with cable ties.
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogramme the preset radio stations.
    • Set the clock.
    • Carry out a road test to enable the PCM to re-learn values.
    • Check the oil pan for oil leaks.
  1. Standard finishing operations.
