Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  1. Remove the liftgate trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section  501-05A Interior Trim and Ornamentation / 501-05B Interior Trim and Ornamentation.

  1. Remove the barrel trim and hand grip panel (four nuts).

  1. Release the barrel retaining ring.
    • Twist anticlockwise to release.

  1. Unseat the barrel and twist to separate from the actuating rod.

  1. Disconnect the liftgate anti-theft inhibit switch.
    • Push in and tilt up to remove.
  1. Remove the barrel.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
