Removal

  1. Remove the crankshaft front oil seal.
    For additional information, refer to Crankshaft front oil seal in this section.

  1. Detach the air conditioning (A/C) compressor and secure on the radiator crossmember.

  1. Remove the A/C compressor bracket (engine shown removed for clarity).

  1. Remove the intermediate shaft center bearing bracket.
  1. Remove the oil pan.
    For additional information, refer to Oil pan in this section.

  1. Remove the oil intake pipe.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove the lower crankcase to transmission bolts.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Note the installation position of the shims between the transmission and the lower crankcase to aid installation. When installing the oil pump, the shims must be re-installed in their original installation position.
    Remove the lower crankcase (engine shown removed for clarity).
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Remove the auxiliary drive belt tensioner.

  1. Remove the oil pump (engine shown removed for clarity).
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Renew the oil pump gasket.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the oil pump retaining bolts at this stage.
    Install the oil pump (engine shown removed for clarity).

  1. Align the oil pump on both sides using a straightedge so that the mating surface protrudes by 0.3 mm - 0.8 mm.

  1. Tighten the oil pump bolts in two stages (engine shown removed for clarity).
    • Stage 1: 6 Nm
    • Stage 2: 45 degrees

  1. Install the auxiliary drive belt tensioner.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install the lower crankcase within 10 minutes of applying sealer.
    Apply sealer onto the indicated areas (bead diameter: 4 mm).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Ensure that all shims between the transmission and lower crankcase are installed in their original installation positions.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not tighten the bolts for the moment.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new lower crankcase gasket.
    Install the lower crankcase (engine shown removed for clarity).

  1. Tighten the lower crankcase to transmission bolts.

  1. Tighten the lower crankcase to transmission bolts.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Renew the oil intake pipe O-ring.
    Install the oil intake pipe.
  1. Install the oil pan.
    For additional information, refer to Oil pan in this section.

  1. Install the intermediate shaft center bearing bracket.

  1. Install the A/C compressor bracket (engine shown removed for clarity).

  1. Attach the A/C compressor to its bracket.
  1. Install the crankshaft front oil seal.
