General Procedures

Primary Vehicle Alarm System Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter Programming

NOTE:
NOTE:A maximum of four remote transmitters can be programmed to the vehicle. Programming must be done at the same time for all the remote transmitters.
NOTE:
NOTE:Before entering the remote transmitter programming mode, make sure that the vehicle battery is fully charged and that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered (if equipped).
  1. Close all doors to make sure conflicting chimes do not sound during programming.
  1. Turn the ignition switch from position I to position II four times within six seconds.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
  1. A chime will sound and an LED will illuminate to indicate that the learning mode has been accessed and it is possible to program remote transmitters.
  1. Within 10 seconds of the previous step, press any button on the remote transmitter being programmed until a chime is heard and the LED flashes. This indicates a new transmitter code has been successfully received.
  1. After each successful remote transmitter programming another 10 second learning mode is automatically entered up to a maximum of four times.
  1. To program additional remote transmitters repeat step 5.
  1. The system will exit the learning mode if the ignition switch is turned to position III, no new remote transmitter is programmed during the 10 seconds or if four remote transmitters have been programmed.
  1. NOTE:
NOTE:An incorrect programming procedure does not affect the stored codes.
After successful programming, only the new programmed remote transmitters will be accepted.
  1. Test all the programmed remote transmitters, by activating and deactivating the remote locking and unlocking functions.

Secondary Vehicle Alarm System Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter Programming

  1. Turn the ignition switch from position 0 to position II.
  1. NOTE:
NOTE:There are four numbered switches on the secondary vehicle alarm system module. When the switches are in the upper position they are OFF and when in the lower position they are ON.
Access the secondary vehicle alarm system module and move switch number 2 to the ON position.
  1. NOTE:
NOTE:If the ARM/DISARM button of the remote transmitter is released before the LED extinguishes the remote transmitter will not be programmed to the vehicle.
    NOTE:
NOTE:The LED is located in the wiring harness of the secondary vehicle alarm system module.
Press and hold down the ARM/DISARM button of the new remote transmitter and the LED will illuminate. Release the ARM/DISARM button of the new remote transmitter when the LED extinguishes (approximately 30 seconds).
  1. If programming a new remote transmitter due to a lost remote transmitter, repeat the programming process on all remaining remote transmitters a total of 8 times to remove the code of the lost remote transmitter.
  1. Move the secondary vehicle alarm system module switch number 2 to the OFF position.
  1. Turn the ignition switch from position II to position 0.
  1. Test all the programmed remote transmitters by activating and deactivating the remote arm and disarm functions.
