Rear Suspension - Rear Strut and Spring Assembly Ka 1997 (09/1996-)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Raise the tailgate and remove the rear parcel shelf.

  1. Remove the rear parcel shelf support.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the piston rod from rotating while removing the top mount nut.
    Remove the strut and spring assembly top mount nut.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the strut and spring assembly lower mounting bolt.
  1. Remove the strut and spring assembly.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:The final tightening of the rear suspension components should be carried out when the vehicle weight is on the road wheels.
  1. Position the strut and spring assembly.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the strut and spring assembly lower mounting bolt at this stage.
    Install the strut and spring assembly lower mounting bolt.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Tighten the strut and spring assembly lower mounting bolt.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the piston rod from rotating while tightening the top mount nut.
    Install the strut and spring assembly top mount nut.

  1. Install the rear parcel shelf support.
  1. Install the rear parcel shelf and lower the tailgate.
