Engine - 2.5L Duratorq-TDCi (WL) Diesel/3.0L Duratorq-TDCi (WL) Diesel - Oil Pan Ranger 2006.5 (05/2006-)
Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Drain the engine oil.
    For additional information, refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling (303-01 Engine - 2.5L Duratorq-TDCi (WL) Diesel/3.0L Duratorq-TDCi (WL) Diesel, General Procedures).
  1. Remove the under cover.
  1. Remove the front stabilizer.

    Front Stabilizer Bar - 4x2 (204-01 Front Suspension, Removal and Installation).
  1. Disconnect the center link on the left side of the vehicle.

6. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Fill with the specified amount and type of engine oil.
    For additional information, refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling (303-01 Engine - 2.5L Duratorq-TDCi (WL) Diesel/3.0L Duratorq-TDCi (WL) Diesel, General Procedures).
  1. Start the engine and inspect for engine oil leakage.

Removal Details

Item 2 : Rear crossmember (4x4)

  1. Set the transmission jack on the front differential.

  1. Remove the bolts and nuts indicated in the figure.

Item 3 : Oil pan

  1. Remove the oil pan mounting bolts.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Pry tools can easily scratch the cylinder block and oil pan contact surfaces. Prying off the oil pan can also easily bend the oil pan flange.
    Use a separate tool to separate the oil pan.

Installation Details

Item 3 : Oil pan

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If the bolts are reused, remove the old sealant from the bolt threads. Tightening a bolt that has old sealant on it can cause bolt hole damage.

  1. Apply silicone sealant to the oil pan along the inside of the bolt holes and overlap the ends.
    • Thickness ø 2.0—3.0 mm {0.08—0.11 in}.

  1. Tighten the oil pan bolts A as indicated in the figure.

  1. Tighten the remaining oil pan bolts in several passes.
