5. Remove the shift lever from the drive assembly. Slightly spread the shift lever arms, so the mating buttons will clear the drive collar.
6. Remove the drive assembly from the armature shaft.
7. Remove the thrust collar from the armature shaft.
8. Drive the pinion stop collar away from the pinion stop retainer ring.
8.1. Slide a metal cylinder onto the armature shaft.
8.2. Then, strike the metal cylinder against the stop collar using a hammer.
9. Spread the pinion stop retainer ring.
10. Remove the pinion stop retainer ring from the groove in the armature shaft. Discard the ring.
11. Slide the stop collar off the armature shaft.
12. Slide the drive assembly off of the armature shaft.
