2. Remove the control valve and do the following.
a. Remove the O-ring union fitting (16) and the O-ring (15).
b. Remove the control valve assembly then remove the flow control spring.
3. Remove the drive shaft seal using the Special Service Tool (SST) J 7728 shaft oil seal installer.
4. Protect the drive shaft (7) with the shim stock then remove the seal and discard it.
5. After removing all the external components disassemble the pump assembly.
6. Remove the retaining ring (37) using a punch in the access hole.
7. Remove all the internal components of the pump from the pump housing (10) by gently pushing on the pump drive shaft (7). Components should
include pressure plate sub-assembly that consists of:
a. End cover (36).
b. O-ring seal (35).
c. Pressure plate spring (33).
