Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
NOTE: On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove rear oil seal in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 22, noting the following:
a. On models with manual transaxle, secure flywheel and remove flywheel lock bolts.
b. On models with automatic transaxle, secure driveplate and remove lock bolts.
c. Remove backing plate, driveplate and adapter.
d. Cut oil seal lip with razor knife.
e. Carefully remove oil seal using a screwdriver and rag.
