Axle Shaft: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation CV Type
1. Check dust boot on driveshaft for cracks, damage, leaking grease or a loose boot band.
2. Inspect driveshaft for bending, cracks and excessive joint or spline wear.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel assembly.
4. Remove driveshaft/hub locknut.
5. Disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle.
6. Disconnect lower ball joint from steering knuckle.
7. Carefully pry driveshaft out of transaxle and remove from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Use caution to not damage driveshaft dust cover or oil seal.
b. Tighten to specifications.
