12. Remove the cylinder heads.

13. Remove the head gaskets.
14. Install in the reverse order of removal by taking care of the following note.

Cylinder Head Gasket Installation Note 
1. Clean all the sealing surfaces.
2. Check the cylinder head for flatness.
3. Install the head gasket.

Note:  The "V" notch in the head gasket faces the front of the engine.

Cylinder Head Installation Note 

1. Install the bolts.

1) Tighten the bolts in four steps in the sequence shown.
2) Tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).
3) Loosen the bolts one full turn.
4) Tighten to 45 - 55 Nm (34 - 40 ft. lbs.).
5) Tighten to 85 - 99 Nm (63 - 73 ft. lbs.).

Cylinder Head Cover Installation Note 
1. Clean all the mating surfaces.

Note:  Do not clean the valve cover gasket with solvent. Damage to the valve cover gasket may occur.
