MB990939: Brass Bar.

J. Drive pinion rear bearing outer race removal. (29)

Required Special Tool or equivalent:

MB990939: Brass Bar.

Inspection

Differential Preload Check

Required Special Tools or equivalents:

MB990989: Base.
MB990992: Tool C.

1. Use special tools MB990989 and MB990992 to measure the differential preload.

Standard value:

When installing a new clutch plate: 39 - 74 Nm (29 - 54 ft. lbs.)
When reinstalling the current clutch plate: 25 - 74 Nm (18 - 54 ft. lbs.)

2.

If the differential preload is not within the standard value disassemble the differential case assembly and repair or replace the parts.
