With the lighting switch in the HIGH BEAM position, current flows across the switch and onto fuses 9 and 10 in the passenger compartment fuse box on an R/U wire. Fuse 9 supplies the RH main beam bulb on an R/W wire (R/Y on ’D’ series), and fuse 10 supplies the LH main beam bulb on an R/Y wire (R/W on ’D’ series). Again, both are earthed on B wires.
Headlamp Flash
When the dip switch is operated without the headlamps being switched ON, the two inner headlamps will be lit. They will remain lit until the dip switch is released.
The two different functions of the dip switch (flash and dipped/high beam) is determined by the design of the lighting switch.
Headlamp levelling
When the ignition switch is in position ’II’, battery voltage is fed to the four position headlamp levelling switch via fuse 15 in the passenger compartment fuse box on a Y wire. The levelling switch connects to both left and right hand levelling motors on Y/U wires. Both motors are earthed on B wires.
K, T and L series: Power is also fed to the headlamp levelling motors on the G/B wires from fuse 14 in the passenger compartment fuse box when the ignition switch is in position ’II’. D series: Power is also fed to the headlamp levelling motors on the Y wires via fuse 15 of the passenger compartment fuse box.
Lights-on Alarm
A 2 KHz sounder in the multi-function unit (MFU), is activated when the sidelights are switched ON, the ignition is switched OFF and the driver’s door is open. The sounder is switched OFF when any of the above conditions is reversed.
