Description and operationReverse Lamps

When the side lights are switched on, battery voltage supplied from fusible link B on a W wire, flows across the lighting switch to fuse 19 of the passenger compartment fuse box. The lighting switch is connected to the fuse box by an R/G wire. Fuse 19 then supplies a feed to the MFU on an R/B wire. A feed is also supplied to the MFU on a G/Y wire (Y wire on ’D’ series) from fuse 15 in the passenger compartment fuse box when the ignition switch is in position ’II’, and fusible link M on a W/G wire.

When the driver’s door switch is closed (door open) an earth is fed to the MFU ’lights on alarm’ circuit on a U/S wire via the alarm ECU.

Reverse Lamps

When the ignition switch is in position ’II’, battery power is fed to fuse 15 in the passenger compartment fuse box. With reverse gear selected, power from fuse 15 is fed on the G/Y wire (manual gearbox), or Y wire (automatic gearbox), through the closed contacts of the reverse lamp switch to both reversing lamps. The reverse lamp switch is fitted to the manual gearbox and to the selector quadrant on automatic transmission models. Earth returns for the lamps are on B wires.

Brake Lamps

Unswitched battery power on fuse M in the engine compartment fuse box is fed on the W/G wires via the brake pedal mounted brake lamp switch, to both rear brake lamps and to the high level brake lamp. The earth path for the lamps is on B wires.
