K series: The pulses are fed on a U wire from the ignition coil pulses generated by the MEMS ECU on a W/B wire. T series: The pulses are fed on a U wire from pulses generated by the MEMS ECU. D series: The pulses are fed on a U wire from pulses generated by the Engine Management Control Unit for the distributor. Diesel: The Electronic Control Module generates the required pulses fed on a U - W/B wire.
Fuel Gauge
Electric current flowing through the fuel tank sender unit is fed on a G/B - Y/U wire, where it is measured by the fuel gauge meter. A fuel level float, coupled to a variable resistance, provides a current which varies as the fuel level changes. The value of the resistance is approximately 100 ohms when the fuel tank is empty and nearly zero when the tank is full. The rate of change between maximum and minimum values is non-linear.
Temperature Gauge
Current flowing through the coolant temperature sensor on a Y/G - G/U wire (Y/G wire on D series cars) to the temperature gauge is measured by the temperature gauge meter. When the coolant temperature is low, the sensor resistance is high reducing the current flowing through it. As the coolant temperature rises, flow sensor resistance decreases and the current increases.
