Temperature Gauge

Current flowing through the coolant temperature sensor on a Y/G wire to the temperature gauge, is measured by the meter . When the coolant temperature is low, the sensor resistance is high reducing the current flowing through it. As the coolant temperature rises the current increases.

Warning Lights

Main Beam

When the headlamps are switched to main beam, a voltage is fed on a R/G wire from fuse 40 in the engine compartment fusebox to the main beam warning light. The earth path is provided on a R/U wire, through the contacts of the main/dip relay in the engine compartment fusebox, and on a B wire.

Direction Indicators

Two lights give a visual indication of the direction indicator operation, either left or right.

Oil Pressure

This bulb will light when then the oil pressure switch contacts close, indicating low oil pressure.

Brake System

The brake system warning light bulb will light when the handbrake is on, when the brake fluid level is low and for a few seconds when the ignition is first switched on (check function).

ABS The ABS warning light is used to indicate that the anti-lock braking system is functioning incorrectly.

Low Fuel

Power is fed to the low fuel warning light from fuse 8, on a Y wire. It is earthed on a G/R wire when a switch inside the fuel tank sending unit closes due to a low fuel condition.

Door Open

Power is fed to the light from fuse 8 on a Y wire and is earthed by any of the door switches, on a G/R, G/U, G/Y, or G/W wire, when the door is open.
