INLET MANIFOLD
1.4 Models – Alloy manifold
The 1.4 K8 inlet manifold is bolted to the cylinder head with a gasket interposed between the two components. Support is by means of struts bolted to the manifold and cylinder block.
The 1.4 K16 alloy inlet manifold assembly comprises a manifold chamber bolted to the inlet manifold with a gasket interposed between the two components. The throttle housing is bolted to the manifold chamber. The inlet manifold is attached to the cylinder head and is supported by a strut from the cylinder block.
1.4 Models – Plastic manifold
The 1.4 K16 plastic inlet manifold is a one piece moulding attached to the cylinder head with a gasket interposed between the two components. The throttle housing is bolted to the manifold chamber, sealing being effected by means of an 'O' ring.
1.6 Models
The 1.6 inlet manifold is an alloy casting and is supported by a bracket, it incorporates a manifold absolute pressure (M.A.P.) sensor and throttle body, the electronic air control valve is also attached to the manifold.
2.0 Models
The 2.0 inlet manifold assembly comprises a manifold chamber bolted to the inlet manifold with additional support being provided by two brackets bolted to the R.H. camshaft cover. The throttle housing is bolted to the manifold chamber which also incorporates the tapping for the brake servo. The inlet manifold is bolted to the cylinder head and carries the fuel injectors and inlet air temperature sensor. Gaskets are used to seal the inlet manifold joint faces.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD
1.4 K8 Models
The fabricated steel exhaust manifold has a four branch manifold terminating in a single downpipe connection, sealed to the downpipe by a gasket. A gasket is interposed between the manifold and cylinder head.
1.4 K16 Models
The 1.4 fabricated steel exhaust manifold has a four branch manifold terminating in siamesed front pipe connections. The oxygen sensor is inserted in the siamesed outlet of numbers 2 and 3 cylinders.
1.6 Models
The 1.6 cast iron exhaust manifold is divided internally and terminates in a single front pipe connection. The oxygen sensor is located in the manifold adjacent to the front pipe connecting flange.
2.0 Models
The 2.0 cast iron exhaust manifold is divided internally and terminates in a twin front pipe connection. Number 1 and 2 cylinders discharge into one half and 3 and 4 cylinders into the other half. The oxygen sensor is inserted into the manifold adjacent to the front pipe connecting flange.
Turbo models: The turbocharger is mounted directly on the exhaust manifold flange.
