Gearbox?: removing and fitting > < checking and completing

–  Raise the vehicle and remove the left front wheel.
–  Vehicles with petrol engine: Remove the central noise insulation → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.50.
–  Remove the left sound insulation → Bodywork, exterior installation work; Rep. gr.66.
–  Place below the collecting tray -T20173-.
   
–  Unscrew drain plug -arrow- and empty gearbox oil.

–  Unscrew oil level test and filler plug -arrow-.
–  Tighten the gearbox oil discharge cap to a torque of 25 Nm.
  Note
t  Oil level is correct when the oil reaches the bottom edge of filling hole.
t  The type of bolt depends on the material used to make the gearbox; this may be magnesium or aluminium . Allocation of the corresponding bolt →  Spare parts catalogue.
Oil specification for gears → Chapter.
–  Fill with new gear oil up to the correct level.
–  Unscrew control lid, start engine and let the gears work with engaged gear for about 2 minutes.
–  Stop the engine, remove oil cap and check level again, top up if necessary.
–  Tighten the gearbox oil level control and filler cap and tighten to a torque of 25 Nm.
–  Install the left and the middle soundproofing again
–  Fit the left front wheel.
