| If the selector lever is in the positions „S“, „D“ or „R“ or even in the Tiptronic track, the starter motor normally cannot be activated. |

| For right hand drive vehicles, when the gear selector lever is in the positions „P“ and „N“, the starter motor normally can only be operated when the lock button on the lever knob is not pressed. |

| At speeds above 5 km/h, when the selector lever is in the position „N“, the selector lever locking electro-magnet should not engage. The selector lever can be displaced to another gear. |

| When travelling at speeds below 5 km/h (almost stopped) and shifting into selector lever position „N“, solenoid for selector lever lock must not engage until after approx. 1 sec. Selector lever cannot be shifted out of„N“ position until brake pedal is depressed. |

| The gear selection lever is locked and cannot move from „P“position. The selector lever locking solenoid locks the lever. |

| The selector lever locking solenoid releases the lever. It is possible to select a gear. Starting from position„P“ positions„R, N, D, S“ should now be engaged slowly and consecutively, checking during the operation whether the position shown on the instrument panel coincides with the position of the selector lever. |
| The gear selection lever is in position „N“ and the ignition is on: |

| The brake pedal is not pressed: |
| The gear selection lever is secured and cannot move from „N“ position. The selector lever locking solenoid locks the lever. |

| The selector lever locking solenoid releases the lever. It is possible to select a gear. |

| Shift selector lever into Tiptronic gate. |
| The symbol „D“ should turn off and the symbols „+“ and „-“ should light. |
| The gear selector lever position indication on the instrument panel should go from „PRNDS“ to „654321“, when the gear selector lever is placed in the Tiptronic mode. |
