Emergency release of gear selection mechanism from position „P“
Emergency release of gear selection mechanism from position „P“
The Electro-magnet for locking the selector lever -N110- locks the selector lever in the position „P“. The selection lever can only be moved from the „P“ position if, while the ignition is on and/or the engine is started, the brake pedal is held down and the button on the handle of the selector lever is pressed in → Chapter „Checking selector mechanism“.
If there are faults in the supply voltage of the solenoid for the selector lever locking (flat battery or defective fuse), or if the solenoid is faulty, the selector lever can not be taken out of position „P“, that is, the vehicle cannot be moved because the parking lock is engaged.
In that case:
–  check the fuses → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
–  check the battery voltage → Electrical system; Rep. gr. 27 .
If the selector lever can not be taken out of position „P“ in spite of having carried out the fault location, it is possible to proceed to the emergency solenoid release. However, if the selector lever returns to the position „P“, it will be locked once again in position „P“.
Emergency release of the lock
