Bevelled gears oil: filling Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  filling device -VAS 6291-, see equivalent → Anchor Prior condition: l  Vehicle must be horizontal l  The bevelled gears must be fitted –  Raise the vehicle. –  Remove centre noise insulation → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. Gr.50.   Note To add oil, use the filling device -VAS 6291-

–  Extend the hose of the filling device -VAS 6291- to the engine compartment

–  Unscrew the right drive shaft heat shield from the bevelled gears, removing the bolts-arrows-. –  Fit tray -T20173- beneath pair of bevelled gears.

–  Unscrew the oil filler bolt -arrow- from the bevelled gears.

–  Separate the adapter -A- and the elbow -B-. –  Screw the adapter in -A- as far as possible. –  Insert the elbow -B- with the adapter -A-. l  The hose should not be left hanging

–  Ensure that the valve -arrow- is closed. –  Attach the oil tank -A- to the filling device -VAS 6291-. –  Now open the valve -arrow- and hold the oil tank as shown in the illustration.

l  If the bevelled gears are correctly filled, oil should exit the adapter -A- –  After the oil has exited the adapter -A-, place the oil tank on a lower level so that the excess oil can flow back through the hose to the oil tank. –  When no more oil flows back, remove the filling device -VAS 6291-. –  Take care with the oil remaining in the hose of the device -VAS 6291-. –  Screw the bolt used in oil filler plug. –  Raise the vehicle slightly so that the wheels can rotate freely. –  Start engine, select a gear and allow gearbox to turn for approx. 2 minutes. –  Stop engine and unscrew oil filler plug. –  Add oil again, if required, to the lower edge of the filler hole.

–  Tighten the new filler bolt -arrow- and tighten it → Anchor.

–  Fit the heat shield for the right drive shaft to the bevelled gears -arrows- and tighten to the torque → Anchor –  Fit centre noise insulation → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. Gr.50. Tightening torque
