Selector lever and gear selection mechanism with gear selector cable: removal and installation, from 03.2009 Removing and installing selector lever cable up to 02.2009 → Chapter.

Brief description The gear selection mechanism and the selector lever cable must not be separated from each other. They can only be removed together. When fitting, it may be necessary to make more space in the engine compartment. It is common that the air filter has to be removed for this purpose. The ventral console may have to be removed from the interior.   Note After fitting, check that the cable works smoothly and adjust it. Removing –  Put the gear selector lever into position „P“. –  Removing the gear selector handle → Chapter. –  Remove central control → body- install inside; Rep. gr.68

–  Unscrew the 4 fixing bolts. –  Raise the vehicle. –  Remove heat shield. This allows you to remove the parts easier.

–  Remove the securing disc. –  Always replace the securing disc of the selector lever cable. –  Fit the cable to the joint.

–  Before refitting the selector lever cable, the selector lever in the vehicle must be moved to the „P“ position. –  To be able to remove the cable and / or the gear selection mechanism, now the heat protection plate and, when required, the elements of the exhaust system must be removed → Rep. gr.26. –  Remove heat shield → Rep. gr. 66 .

–  Remove the gear selection mechanism. Installing Installation is carried out in reverse order. –  Before fitting the joint: Check selector lever cable → Chapter. –  Fit the components of the → exhaust system; Rep. gr.26 . –  Install heat shield → Rep. gr.66.

–  Insert the 4 securing bolts and tighten to 8 Nm. –  Adjust selector lever cable after installing → Chapter.
