Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • ◆ VW 401 Thrust plate
  • ◆ VW 460 Removal device
  • ◆ 3267 Assembly ring

Only when cleaning or carrying out visual check the clutch must be dismantled.

When doing this ensure that the ball valve (arrow) is not damaged.

  • Circlip
    • ◆ Mark after removing and insert in same position
  • Thrust plate
    • ◆ Smooth side facing inner plates
  • Outer plate
    • ◆ Quantity
  • Inner plate
    • ◆ Quantity=> Page 00-3
    • ◆ Before installing place plates in ATF for 15 minutes

    • ◆ Sealing lips are vulcanised to piston
    • ◆ Moisten sealing lips with ATF before installing
    • ◆ Turn piston slightly when installing

  • ‒ Press spring supporting plate down with 3267 just sufficient to be able to remove and install the circlip.
  • ‒ Do not damage clutch housing ball valve.

Circlip (arrow) must be seated in the groove of clutch housing. Spring supporting plate must be centred relative to hub.
