Engine control unitJ623: removing and fitting
Engine control unit -J623-: removing and fitting
To replace the engine control unit, connect the → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 and initiate the guided function “Replacing control unit”.
–  Switch off ignition.
Removing
   
–  Unlock the engine control unit connectors and pull them off.

–  Press the clips -arrow A- outwards and remove control unit -B-.
Fitting
–  Fit the new engine control unit and insert it pushing to the left.
–  Fit connectors and lock in position.
–  When replacing the engine control unit, erase the self adapting values and adapt to the engine control unit → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051“Guided function”
–  Consult fault memory; if necessary, repair any faults and then erase fault memory → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051“guided fault finding”
–  After deleting the fault memory, the conformance code must be generated.
–  Take vehicle for a test drive.
–  Interrogate the control unit fault memory again.
