Check the pressure capsule for the exhaust gas turbocharger (engine code BWA)
Check the pressure capsule for the exhaust gas turbocharger (engine code BWA)
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisite:
t  Engine oil temperature at least. 60 ℃.
t  Vehicles with direct shift gearbox: the selector lever must be in position „P“.
t  The turbocharger hose, which leads from the supercharger pressure limitation solenoid valve -N75- to the pressure capsule, must have flow continuity
t  Electronic pressure limiter valve for supercharger -N75-: OK
t  The exhaust system must be free of leaks
Procedure:
–  Remove the engine cover / air filter → Chapter.

–  Start the engine and watch the control rod -A- for the pressure capsule in the exhaust gas turbocharger with a mirror.
–  A second mechanic must then spontaneously accelerate the engine up to full speed. The rod -A- must now move.
If the rod does not move:

–  Connect the manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to the pressure capsule -arrow-.

–  Move the ring -1- of the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to position -B- for „pressure“.
  Caution
Pressure must not exceed 750 Millibar! Increased pressure can lead to damaging the pressure capsule.
–  Operate the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- a few times, and watch the rod while doing so.
The linkage -A- should start to move at a pressure of approx. 300 mbar and lie at its limit stop at a pressure of approx. 700 mbar.

The total range of the rod is about 10 mm.
  Note
t  If pressure cannot be generated with the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- or if the pressure drops again immediately: Replace the pressure capsule → Chapter.
t  If the pressure capsule is in good condition, but the rod still does not move -A-: Check that the lever for the bypass plate moves smoothly. If the lever moves with difficulty or is blocked: Replace the turbocharger . → Chapter.
