Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Cooling system leakage check -VAG 1687-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adapter -VAG 1687/5-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-10327
–  Unscrew the securing bolts -arrows- and remove the engine soundproofing..
  N10-10175
–  Release the safety fastener -A- and detach the hose -B- from the supercharger air pipe.
  N21-10041
–  Attach the adaptor -VAG 1687/5- to the supercharger air hose -A- and turn it approx. 90° -B-.
Prepare the cooling system leakage check -VAG 1687- as described below:
  N21-10039
–  Unscrew pressure regulating valve -2- and close valves -3- and -4-.
  Note
In order to unscrew the pressure regulation valve -2-, the rotary button must be completely upwards.
  V21-0168
–  Connect the leakage tester -VAG 1687- as shown.
  N21-10040
–  Connect the compressed air hose -1- (compressed air supply) to the cooling system leakage tester -VAG 1687-.
  Note
If there is water in the inspection hole, drain it through the drain screw -6-.
–  Open valve -3-.
–  Adjust pressure to 0.5 bar with pressure regulating valve -2-.
  Caution
The pressure must not exceed 0.5 bar. If the pressure is set too high this can damage the engine.
–  Open valve -4- and wait until the test circuit is filled. If necessary readjust pressure to 0.5 bar.
–  Check for leaks in the supercharger system by listening, feeling, using leak-detector spray or with the ultrasound measuring device -VAG 1842S-.
  Note
t  Assembly of hose connections with couplings → Chapter.
t  A small amount of air escapes through the valves and enters the engine. A pressure retention test can therefore not be carried out.
t  Operation of ultrasonic leakage tester -VAG 1842S- → Operating instructions.
t  Before removing the adaptor, depressurize the inspection circuit by releasing the coupling of the adaptor -VAG 1687/5-.
t  The couplings and air hoses of the supercharging system must be free from oil and grease before assembling.
