Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Central diagnosis -VAS 5051B- or central diagnosis -VAS 5052-, see equivalent → Anchor

–  Connect the central diagnosis -VAS 5051B- or central diagnosis -VAS 5052- to the diagnostics connector in the driver's side footwell.
–  Start engine and run at idling speed.
Only when engine does not start:
–  Switch on the ignition.
Select the operating mode
–  On the screen, push the „Vehicle self-diagnosis“ button.
Selecting vehicle system:
–  Touch the screen on „01 - Engine electronics“.

The identification of the control unit is displayed on the screen, together with its code -2-, the chassis number in the middle, and the electronic immobiliser identification number.
  Note
This information can be printed out. Now, press the „Print“ button.
Select diagnostic function
–  Press the pushbutton „02 - Consult event memory“ on the screen.
–  If no fault is stored in engine control unit „0 fault(s) detected“ is displayed.
–  If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they will be displayed as a list.
–  Press the button.
–  Press the pushbutton „05 - Erase event memory“ on the screen.
–  Press „06 - End output“ function.
  Note
After deleting the event memory, the readiness code must be generated: → Vehicle diagnostic tester„Guided Functions“.
