Removing and installing engine control unitJ623
Removing and installing engine control unit -J623-
If you wish to renew the engine control unit, connect the → Vehicle diagnostic tester and carry out the guided function „Renew control unit“.
Removal:
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Remove air cleaner housing → Chapter.
   
–  Release and unplug the connector -arrows- on the engine control unit.

–  Press clips -arrows A- outwards and pull engine control unit out to side -B-.
Installation
–  Place the new control unit into the retaining frame.
–  Install control unit connector and lock.
–  If engine control unit -J623- is renewed, erase learnt values and adapt engine control unit → Vehicle diagnostic tester„Guided functions“.
–  Read fault memory, repair faults if necessary and then clear fault memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester„Guided fault finding“.
–  If the fault memory has been erased, you must generate the readiness code again.
–  Install air cleaner housing → Chapter.
–  Take vehicle for a test drive.
–  Interrogate the new control unit fault memory again.
