| During repairs to the engine if metal shavings or particles created by damage or abrasion are found in the oil, this could be due to damage to the piston or bedplate bearings. To avoid subsequent damage, carry out the following operations following the initial repairs: |

| Clean minutely, the oil conduits |

| Replace the oil filter. |

| The oil level must not be above the max. mark - danger of damaging catalytic converter! Marks → Fig.. |
| Without oil filter 3.3 Litres. |
| With oil filter 3.8 Litres. |
| Engine oil specifications |
| Use oil that conforms to the VW 500 00 or VW 501 01 standards. Only use in exceptional cases: multi-grade oils corresponding to the API-SF or SG; ACEA A2/A3 standards. |
