Requirements:
l  Pistons must not be at TDC.
–  Remove sealant residues from camshaft housing and cylinder head with a rotating brush, e.g. a hand drill with a plastic brush (wear eye protection).
–  Prevent dirt and sealant residues from entering cylinder head.
–  Clean sealing surfaces carefully. They must be free of oil and grease.

–  Turn inlet and exhaust camshafts until camshaft clamp -T10171 A- can be inserted into holes in camshaft to stop.
  N15-10370
–  Install a M6 bolt hand-tight (do not tighten) to secure camshaft clamp -T10171 A-.
  N15-10369
–  Apply thin, even coat of sealant on clean camshaft housing sealing surface. See hatched area in illustration.
  Note
The sealant must not be applied too thickly otherwise excess sealant could enter the oil channels and cause damage to the engine.
  N15-0652
–  Ensure that all roller rocker fingers contact valve stem ends -1- correctly and that they are clipped into their respective support elements -2-.
–  Before fitting the camshaft housing, screw two studs (M6 x 80) into cylinder head.
  N15-0076
–  Carefully fit camshaft housing vertically from above onto studs and cylinder head dowel pins -arrows-.
  Note
Ensure that no oil residue can drip onto sealing surfaces.
–  Evenly tighten new camshaft housing securing bolts from inside to outside alternately and diagonally.
Take care not to tilt the camshaft housing. Tightening torque: 10 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°) further
  Note
After installing the camshaft housing, wait about 30 minutes for the sealant to dry.
–  Adjust distribution timing → Chapter.
–  Fit distribution casing → Chapter.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
  N15-10371
–  Install the carrier cover and tighten the screws -arrows- to a tightening torque of 8.5 Nm.
–  Mount the cables and gas hoses on to the fixing points of the carrier cover.
  E00-10901
–  Install the fuel rail „Gas rail“ and tighten the screws -arrows- to a tightening torque of 4 ± 0.4 Nm.
