Camshaft oil seal: replace
Camshaft oil seal: replace
t  Removing → Anchor

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Hose clamp -T10051-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor -T10052A-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Guide sleeve -T20081B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor -T20143-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
l  Cylinder head installed.
–  Remove toothed belt → Chapter.
   
–  Remove securing bolts for camshaft toothed belt pulley -1-.
–  Pull camshaft sprocket off hub.

–  Loosen the securing bolt -1- of the hub, use the counterhold -T10051- .
–  Loosen by 2 turns the attachment bolt of the hub.

–  Fit the extraction tool -T10052A- and line up with the openings of the hub and screw down the bolts -1- .
–  Hold the hexagonal (e/c 30) of the extraction tool -T10052A- and tighten the bolt -2- evenly until the hub comes away from the camshaft cone.
–  Remove the hub cone from the camshaft.

–  Insert the extractor -T20143- and extract the corresponding camshaft seal, supply or exhaust -1-.
–  Clean contact surface and sealing surface of seal.
Replacing
  Note
The sealing lip of the seal must not be oiled or greased.
–  Remove any oil remains from the camshaft journals using a clean cloth.
–  Tape off groove on taper of the camshaft with adhesive tape.
–  Insert seal in adapter -T20081/3- and fit the unit in the camshaft. Also fit the adaptor -T20081/5-.

–  Insert the seal until the limit with the pressure element of the adaptor -T20081/1- and the M12x1.5x65 bolt.
–  Fit the camshaft hub.

–  Tighten securing bolt -1- to 100 Nm (use counter holder -T10051-).

–  Move the camshaft wheel onto the hub.
  Note
The cogged part -arrow- of the camshaft cogwheel should face upwards.
–  Align the camshaft wheel to the centre position in the stripped holes.
–  Screw in the bolts -1- without tightening.
–  Immobilise the hub using the retention tool -T20102-.
–  Install toothed belt → Chapter.
