Mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve: removing and fitting t  Removing → Anchor t  Fitting → Anchor t  Specified torques → Anchor. Removing

Engine cover (version 1): –  Take out the oil dipstick -1- from its guide tube. –  Lift the engine cover sideways -arrows 2- and extract to the front -arrow 3-. –  Replace the oil dipstick in the guide tube.

Engine cover (version 2): –  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards.

All vehicles (continued): –  Remove the hood gasket in the lock carrier and on the sides of the flanges. –  Remove the air conduit cover by releasing the side tabs -arrows-.

–  Unclip the air conduit in the lower part by releasing the tabs -arrows-. –  Remove the lower section of the air duct together with the air hose.

–  Separate the electrical connector -1- from the air mass gauge -G70-. –  Uncouple the flexible air hose -3- and the flexible air conduit -2-. –  Unscrew the bolt -4- and remove the air filter housing.

–  Unscrew the retaining clevis for the joint tube -arrow-.

–  Remove bolts -5-. –  Unplug the connector -6- of the intake manifold flap motor -V157-. –  Disconnect the coolant hose -3- from the mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve. –  Dismount the flexible air conduit in the intake manifold flap motor -V157-, for this raise a little the fixing clips -1-. –  Unscrew the bolts -2- and -4- and remove the intake manifold flap motor -V157-, together with the exhaust gas recirculation mechanical valve. –  Unscrew the intake manifold flap motor -V157- in the setting to the exhaust gas recirculation mechanical valve. Fitting Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:   Note t  Renew gaskets and seals. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Spare parts catalogue. –  Fit the charge air system lines, follow the instructions during this → Chapter. Specified torques .
