Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  diode checking lamp -V.A.G 1527-
t  Auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594 C-
   
t  Glow plug spanner -U-40082-
t  Torque wrench -SAT 8010- (5 … 50 Nm)
Checking conditions
l  Battery voltage, 11.5 V minimum.
l  Ignition off.
l  Fusible link for glow plugs, correct.
l  All electrical consumers, for example: the lights and heated windscreen, must be turned off.
Checking process
–  Extract the connectors from the glow plugs.

–  Connect the cable of the diode lamp to battery positive (+) using the auxiliary pliers from the auxiliary measuring set.
–  Apply the checking tip of the diode lamp to each glow plug in succession. The diode lights: plug correct The diode does not light: replace the plug.
–  Remove and refit the glow plugs using the tool -U-40082-.
Torque:15 Nm
