t
cable -V.A.G 1551/3B-
Note!
t
Instead of the fault reader -V.A.G 1551- , it is also possible to use the vehicle system checker -V.A.G 1552-, although in this case the data can not be printed.
t
All the functions of the -V.A.G 1551/1552- may also be carried out with the new -VAS 5051- diagnostic unit. Turn on the -VAS 5051- → Chapter.

The display of the -V.A.G 1551- fault reader shows the identification of the control unit, for example:
t
038906013AN = reference number of the control unit (see Spares Catalogue to see the current version)
t
1,9 1 = engine size
t
R4 = engine architecture (4 cylinders in a line)
t
EDC = injection system (Diesel Electronic Control)
t
SG = Gearbox type: manual gearbox
t
2168 = software version of the control unit
t
Coding 00002 = coding of the control unit
t
WSC xxxxx = identification of the V.A.G. unit workshop where the last coding was undertaken (While the factory coding is not modified, WSC 00000 will appear.)
